ELEMENTARY AND INTERMEDIATE SAILING CRUISE TRAINING

Obtain your certification by discovering the wonderful Pacific Islands located in the Gulf of Panama: Saboga, Isla del Rey, Isla San José, ...

 

 

Group 1: January 29 to February 7, 2022.

Group 2: from February 9 to 20, 2022.

 

The sailboat:

Keelboat: Océanis 43.

 

Maximum number of crew members: 6.

 

NAVIGATION PLAN (130 miles)

Day 1: Marina Bahia de Panama
  • Welcome and installation on board;

  • Making of the on-board body;

  • Dinner at the marina restaurant.

 

Day 2: Marina Bahia de Panama
  • Morning: review of the sailboat;

  • Noon: 2 hour navigation to get to grips with the sailboat;

  • Evening: Navigation plan for day 3.

 

Day 3: Isla Pocheca

 

Day 4: Isla Pocheca and Isla Bartolomé
  • Morning: Isla Pocheca: passage under the Pelicans tree, dinner on the beach, swimming;

  • Individual presentations.

 
Day 5: Isla Bartolomé and Isla Contadora
  • Morning: maneuvers: tack, jibe, cape, reef ...

  • Afternoon: visit of the island and dinner at the local restaurant, very pretty and delicious!

 

Day 6: Isla Contadora and Isla Mogo Mogo
  • Explore Mogo Mogo Island (Survivor TV show) and dine on the island.

 

Day 7: City of San Miguel and Isla Del Rey
  • Noon: Departure for Isla Del Rey (Bahia de San Telmo).

 

Day 8: Visit of the Bahia de San Telmo
  • Descent of the river in the tropical forest (Dingy and Kayak)

  • Maneuvers

  • 1:00 p.m .: departure for Isla San José (Jurassic Park)

  • Visit of the Cave and the fisherman's cabin… will we be able? Walk to the airstrip

 

Day 9: Departure for the Marina Bahia de Panama
  •  Large cruise ships navigation area

 

Day 10: Marina Bahia de Panama
  • Exam;

  • Departure.

 

PREREQUISITES

FOR ELEMENTARY TRAINING: 

 

FOR INTERMEDIATE TRAINING:
  • Have read ”Intermediate cruising sailing”, theoretical exam on the morning of day 10;

  • Hold the Boat License;

  • Have successfully completed the Coastal Navigation Course (available online);

  • Have successfully completed the VHF Course (Restricted Maritime Operator Certificate, available online);

  • Have your logbook up to date.

 

 COST

  • 10-day training on board the sailboat: $ 1,200 + taxes. COVID Guarantee (if Panama's borders are closed): 100% refundable. For information: plane ticket: approximately $ 800 round trip Montreal - Panama City.

  • Does not include:

  • The on-board cash (approximately $ 25 per day) and other expenses including fuel, port costs, transportation costs (plane ticket and transfer) and food for the captain (approximately $ 200).
